英语阅读似乎是广大学生一直在做的一项英语必备内容,然而如何提高阅读速度,往往会困扰不少英语学习者。对于准备出国留学的同学来说,提高阅读速度是他们最为迫切的需求,因为一旦在国外读书,所有的课本知识和课外信息,都需要用英文理解并及时吸收。


那么如何提高阅读速度呢?今天小v 就跟大家分享一个简单易行的英语阅读方法——主干阅读法

 

什么是主干阅读法?

 

我们把文字的内容比喻成一棵树,树的最主要部分即是主干,如何把握句子的主干呢?我们需要做的是确认主干,同时去掉细枝末节

 

首先,确认主干:在大部分情况下,英语的主要意思需要主语和谓语来表达中心意思细枝末节的信息往往以“介词+名词”的形式出现。

 

举个:


English is important in life, because people can get better jobs with English skills.


这里的“in life”和“with English skills”就是次要信息,甄别这部分“介词+名词”不用花费过多时间,也能快速地掌握句子的主要信息。


 


继续来看两个:


The streets of Shanghai are full of foreign tourists in the summer.

 

The streets (of Shanghai) are full (of foreign tourists)( in the summer).


我们可以通过省略“介词+名词”部分,把握这句话的主要意思:“The streets are full",给我们呈现了一个拥挤街道的场景。



 

I enjoy shopping with my friends at a mall near of my hometown.


I enjoy shoppingwith my friends at a mall near of my hometown).


这里我们可以通过直接去除“介词+名词”,拿出的主要内容“I enjoy shopping”即可。



 

理解了基本的方法后,我们来尝试用主干阅读法来读一篇短文——尼斯湖中有水怪吗?


Have you ever seen a strange creature during your lifetime? Imagine you saw something with your naked eye, but nobody believed you. According to a written account by the Viking Adamnan in A.D. 565,a creature in Scotland's Loch Ness was killing people. In 1933, there were five sightings of the creature. The creature was called Nessie. In 1995, Lorna Taylor attested to seeing it, too. She saw its full body, including the head and neck. But like other eyewitnesses, she was a few seconds too late to get a clear picture. The monster was five meters long from head to tail. That is three times the size of a crocodile, including its snout. Nessie is said to live in one of the largest lochs in the Scottish Highlands. Interestingly, with regard to Nessie, public opinion is positive despite fears of its existence. It brings tourists along with 50 million dollars in benefits annually to the Scottish economy.

 

这里应该保留哪些主干,去除哪些细枝末节呢?下面我们来分析一下。

在实际阅读过程中,我们可以在看到介词的时候就准备省略,然后直接看到下一个意群或者句子。你学会了吗?不妨做个一分钟小测试来巩固一下“快速阅读”吧。
